During the segment, the Emmy broadcast revealed Swift in a pre-recorded role as a rookie detective. The sketch centered on the SVU team trying to determine whether the singer would attend the ceremony, while poking fun at the way fans closely examine her songs, appearances and public comments for possible hidden clues.
Swift leaned into the joke by delivering a deliberately cryptic collection of words and references directly to the camera. The moment played on her well-known habit of including Easter eggs in projects and announcements.
